Aftermarket Toyota Suspension Parts

December 08, 2025

When it comes to upgrading or replacing the suspension on your Toyota, a wide array of aftermarket parts is available to improve performance, handling, and ride quality.

Types of Aftermarket Toyota Suspension Parts

Shock Absorbers/Struts: These dampen suspension movement to provide a smooth ride and proper handling. Aftermarket shocks and struts are available for direct replacement or performance tuning.

Lift Kits: Lift kits increase the ride height of your vehicle, allowing larger tires and improved ground clearance for off-road capability. Toyota-specific lift kits are available for models like the Tacoma and 4Runner. Lift kits can be categorized by lift height and style: leveling kits (for front-end lift to even out the stance), suspension lift kits (full suspension system upgrades), and body lift kits (adding spacers under the body). Suspension lift kits often include new control arms, springs, and shocks to maintain proper geometry.

Coilovers: Coilover suspension kits replace the factory struts or shocks with adjustable spring/shock assemblies. Coilovers allow you to adjust ride height and damping for improved handling and custom looks.

Springs: Upgraded springs can improve handling and appearance. Lowering springs reduce body roll and give a sportier stance, while lift springs (for trucks) increase ride height.

Control Arms: High-performance control arms (upper and lower) can improve suspension geometry and wheel alignment. Aftermarket control arms often use stiffer materials or adjustable ball joints. These can help maintain proper alignment when lifting or for aggressive driving, reducing tire wear and improving handling.

Sway Bars (Anti-Roll Bars): Aftermarket sway bars can reduce body roll during cornering. Upgraded sway bars (either larger diameter or adjustable) are available for many Toyotas.

Axles and CV Joints: In lifted trucks, longer axles or axle relocation kits are needed to maintain proper articulation. Aftermarket axle shafts and CV joints can handle greater angles and torque.

Installation and Compatibility Considerations

Vehicle Compatibility: Before purchasing any aftermarket suspension part, verify that it is compatible with your specific Toyota model, year, and drivetrain (2WD vs 4WD). Many parts are designed for specific model years or generations.

Quality and Fitment: When buying aftermarket parts, choose reputable brands to ensure quality and proper fit. Cheaper, low-quality parts may not fit correctly or may wear out faster.
